ROOT TIP
RESECTION
WHEN IS ROOT TIP RESECTION IS NECESSARY?
This oral surgery is required when the root canal treatment does not have the wished result.
THE ESSENCE OF THE SURGERY
During the procedure, a portion of the root tip is removed so that the bacteria settled there will not cause a new inflammation.
WHEN IS ROOT TIP RESECTION CONTRAINDICATED?
With a preliminary x-ray, we check the length of the root, the degree of inflammation and the condition of the tooth to determine if the intervention is feasible. If the root is too short, or the inflammation is too large, or the condition of the periodontium is not proper, the root tip removal will not succeed.
THE PROCESS OF THE ROOT TIP RESECTION
During the operation, a small incision is made on the gums, and by drilling the bone, the tip of the root is slanted and removed. If necessary, the bone should be cleaned. If necessary, we prepare a retrograde root sealing also. The procedure takes place in local anesthesia, painlessly. The total healing is half-1 year, then we make a control x-ray.
