DENTAL CALCULUS REMOVAL

HEALTHY GUM AND VISIBLY CLEARER, WHITER TEETH

Residues from food adhere to the teeth and are associated with bacteria in the mouth. The result is a yellowish-white build-up: the plaque. The plaque can be removed with a toothbrush for some time, but later it solidifies and will no longer be removable by brushing.

In areas where saliva is more intensively in contact with the plaque, some ions will precipitate after a while, and the plaque will crystallize and solidify. This is how the tartar (dental calculus, dental stone) develops.

With dental calculus removal the result will be:

- Apparently cleaner, whiter teeth
- No gingivitis
- Fresh breath

CALCULUS REMOVAL BY ULTRASOUND

The tartar can no longer be removed by brushing and polishing, so we use an ultrasonic scaler. Due to the ultrasonic vibration emitted by the device, the calculus is relieved gently from the teeth. At the end of the treatment, we polish the tooth surface with ProphyJet polisher, which makes it beautiful and harder to adhere for the new tartar.

YOU MAY NEED CALCULUS REMOVAL

The tartar may slip under the gum. Calculus under the gums is not visible, it can only be tapped with special tools in the periodontal pockets that develop next to the tooth. The tartar is irritating the gum, causing inflammation, then gingivitis and ultimately bone destruction, which can lead to loss of teeth. Many people do not know that tartar (especially subgingival) is a focal point and can be the starting point for many diseases, such as joint pain, atherosclerosis, dermal inflammations. Unfortunately, it is also not uncommon that focal desease causes premature birth or abortion.

HOW CAN YOU PREVENT THE TARTAR FORMATION?

With home practice it is not possible to remove tartar. However, with correct oral hygiene and regular scaling, the development of tartar can be prevented. In our clinic we pay special attention to oral hygiene education, as this ensures the protection of the teeth and the gum.

For this knowledge, you will be grateful for decades. Dental checkups are usually recommended every six months, but if the patient smokes or periodontal desease occours, then it is recommended in every 1-3 months.
